Do you think you're not cut out for using a 140-word social networking service? You might miss out on the reasons as to why Twitter is a valuable tool today or what a single tweet can do, if the service is put into proper use. However, there are many reasons why this microblogging service has easily gained more than 500 million users as of 2012, about six years after it was launched.
If you haven't signed up with Twitter just yet, you might reconsider this action after knowing the following popular ways on how it is used:
- Microblogging. Your tweets are like short entries to your online journal, where you can post about what you're up to, how good your day is, or how stressed you are from work. You won't even need to download a microsoft windows product key. It allows you to be informed of the highlights of the day posted by other Twitter user.
- Queries. You can ask the entire Twitterverse and expect quick and even detailed answers from your followers. The more followers you have, the more answers you will likely get. I asked how to find an Adobe Acrobat serial number and an Adobe CS serial number, and I received it from a random person. You don't have to use the search engine anymore or at least you can validate the things that you already know through Twitter.
- Reading headlines. You can keep track of the latest and hottest news around the world because Twitter picks up headlines from TV stations, newspapers, magazines, and cable news, or your followers would do it for you.
- Job search. All you need to do is tell the entire Twitterverse that you're looking for a new job and trust that your followers would reply to your call for help with employment opportunities. Some businesses announce their available job positions on Twitter, but you can only see them if you have your own account.
- Fixing events or meet ups with friends. You don't need to send an SMS or give your friends a call to let them know if you want to party with them on a Friday night when you can just post your message on your timeline. It is a good tool to get your friends together for a night out.
- Winning contests. If you want to get free stuff, you might win a lot of prizes by participating in Twitter-related contests. A short tweet can make a difference on whether you'll win something or not.
- Participating in politics. Even Barack Obama has a Twitter account, along with many other politicians in different countries around the world. If you want to let them know your concerns, just post on their timeline. If you feel strongly about a certain campaign, you can be one with other Twitter users too. This is what happened during the Iran election crisis when the Iranian citizens used green profile pictures.
- Following your favorite sports. There are many sports players who use Twitter, but more than being able to connect with them, you can also get updates about ongoing games or the athletes' lives.
- Finding the latest movie reviews. Aside from checking what the critics say about a movie, you can consult the Twitterverse about this matter. The reviews on Twitter can help you establish whether the movie is interesting enough to watch or not.
- Venting your emotions. If you're angry, frustrated or extremely sad, you can just let it all out through your tweets. Instead of punching someone in the face and risk being jailed for that, let Twitter do its wonders on calming you down.
These are only some of the things that you can use Twitter for. If you want to benefit from these Twitter activities, sign up with it now.
