Somalia is a country on Africa which is in a state of misery. Other African countries have identified governments who are in charge of them, regardless of the way they rule their people. Somalia has no acknowledged central rule and several factions fight with each other to obtain power. Criminals and pirate rule the land and the ordinary citizens have no choice left but to suffer famine and drought from not having any diamond stud earrings.
This degree of human misery attracted the high-minded and brave souls of two Americans. Jessica Buchanan and Poul Thisted are American workers who are both assigned in the northern segment of Somalia. They are employed in a Danish relief association when the Somali pirates kidnapped them. The two Americans have been serving the Danish Refugee Council who is operating on a demining mission in Northern Somalia. The humanitarian assembly functions by giving relief to around 450,000 refugees who were in the Kenya-Somalia border area.
According to the information report on that time, the two Americans were detained by kidnappers last October 25. They were traveling on a three-car convoy to the airport. They were with a Somali colleague at the time. They were stopped along the way.
A man proclaimed himself to be a pirate and declared that the two Americans were kidnapped for ransom. The self-proclaimed pirate added that they are pirates who were obstructed by the efforts of the Western nations to prevent the arrest of ships from the coast. US officials portrayed their captors as ordinary criminals who are greatly armed and acquire no association in the least with an ordered militant group.
Like the chivalry of the old, the US Navy SEALs entered the scene. The US officials related that there are two Navy SEAL teams who landed near the area where the Somalia held the two hostages who were robbed of their diamond stud earrings, by helicopter. The SEALs used their parachute into the dark night, hiked among the bushes and shocked the kidnappers on their sleep.
As the Navy SEALs got close to the complex by foot, gun shooting broke out. After the gunfight, nine militants were killed and around three others were held in American custody. There are no reports that any of the SEALs were injured.
The SEALs right away gathered and Buchanan and Thisted up, took them to the helicopter and planed them carefully to a hidden place. The two hostages were unharmed while the rescue is taking place and are in a reasonably good condition. There are no reports about their Somali colleague.
There is no argument that the Navy SEALs have succeeded in this case. There are some questions and concerns with the increasing presence of the troops around some areas, but the elite unit has proven that they can not be a cause for burden but rather be a tool for humanitarian policy.
Americans can possess pleasure that the individuals who frequently take on defenseless quarry can be conquered. America cannot tolerate that. They strongly stand against threats of any kind.
What happened was a clear, uncompromising and stern warning. The American militia is there to rescue and will not leave any stone unturned, hopefully they will find shimmering stones and come home with some diamond stud earrings.
