Making Baby Dresses

Within this simple project you learn how to make a baby dress pattern that fits any child for whom you sew. Become familiar with easy tailoring techniques that will enable the clothing to suit your growing baby for some extra months. This project is an A-line sleeveless summer dress.Bridesmaid Dresses
Measure kids head. This is the way wide the neck opening has to be. Measure your child from shoulder to shoulder; measure round the stomach, hips and thighs. These are the width measurements. Measure from shoulder to wrist, from shoulder to stomach, from shoulder to hip and from shoulder to ankle. Measure from shoulder to underarm. Measure from crotch to ankle and from stomach to ankle. These are the length measurements.Party & Cocktail Dresses

On the piece of dressmaker's paper, work with a ruler to attract a rectangle as wide as the baby's widest measurement, plus inches for ease, if you would like the dress to look, plus inches for the hem. Mark the length of baby's armhole plus inch.

Fold the pattern in half. Take half the measurement for baby's head and mark it on both sides with the fold line. For that front with the pattern, utilize the French curve to attract a rounded neckline. Evaluate if your dress will probably be drop sleeve or rounded sleeve. When it is drop sleeve, leave it alone. When it is a fitted round sleeve, take half the shoulder to shoulder measurement and, using the pattern folded in half, mark the location where the armholes needs to be about the shoulder, using the French curve to attract the underarm shape.

Along with your pencil and ruler, draw a triangle from the center with the neck hole, cross the underside underarm mark and continue the length of the garment. This provides the dress an A-line shape. Your pattern does not have any waistline, so it's adaptable as the baby grows taller. It could easily move from dress to blouse.

Fold the dressmaker paper in half. Pin about the fold with the material and remove the front with the dress. With the pattern still folded in half, pin to a double thickness of cloth and remove the two back pieces of the dress. Don't worry about facing, because the neck and armhole will probably be finished with seam binding.Occasion Dresses

Make use of a /-inch seam up the to within inches with the neck opening. Make use of a /-inch seam to close shoulders. Make use of a /-inch seam from underarm to hem. Stitch seam binding from one shoulder seam, round the neck, along the neck opening and up to the other shoulder seam. Turn the raw edge and hand stitch shut. Stitch seam binding around each armhole, hand stitching the raw edges shut. Turn the raw edge at the bottom with the dress and hand stitch a -inch hem. Fasten a tie from the two lengths of grosgrain ribbon behind the dress.
